How I Made My Own Canvas Backpack

Ok fine! You got me! My mother-in-law helped do the stitching.

Now that credit has been given, lets talk about the pack. If you have been following our blog or Facebook Page then you are most likely aware of our robbery incident about 6 months or so ago. I was going to do a video on it, but I decide to make you guys read for once.Ok, long story short. I got robbed. Well, more like me and my friend got robbed while exploring the caribbean coast of Costa Rica. We went out in the kayak and people broke into our truck. They got a few fly rods and reels and all my go pro gear. But most importantly, they got my Osprey Exos 58 backpack and all my backpacking gear.Since then, I have been on the 'broke bench' and haven't been able to replace much of the gear. So, I decided to build a backpack from scratch.
After cutting out the pieces we stitched them together. I took some straps from a torn up daypack that my brother had left here, and added a drawstring at the top of the pack. Simple of sure, but pretty rad.Lastly, I took some sharpies and went to town. I drew a bunch of flies and fly fishing related garbage on it, added a few bible references for all the other wonderers out there, and called it quits.I still have a few more additions to the pack to be made. I plan on adding a flap to cover the top and do a few extra drawings to fill in some space.Thats all folks. Thanks for reading.Keep your hearts right, and your lines tight!Capt. Jesse Males
