CASA MAR - New Beginnings (Film Trailer) IF4 2025

In 2022, the breakthrough film “The Legend of Casa Mar” began the untold story of one of the worlds most prolific tarpon fishing lodges located on the northern Caribbean coastline of Costa Rica. Peter Gorinsky’s iconic interview outlined the details surrounding the history of the lodge and its downfall in the late 80’s and early 90’s. The film came to a close with the fishery unfolding into the hands of modern anglers who still fish the area to this day.

Now in 2025, “New Beginnings” picks up the story and introduces fly fishing legends Chico Fernandez and Dan Blanton who together with the late Peter Gorinsky tell untold stories of Casa Mar’s past, address the current conservation challenges that the fishery faces, and uncover what the future of the area needs most.

With Peter Gorinsky’s passing during this film’s production, angler and Costa Rican citizen, Mark Evans, picks up the torch halfway through the film to highlight Peter’s conservation organization CRAFF(Costa Rican Association of Fly Fishers) as one of the key components keeping the future bright for the Barra Colorado Region.

Thrilling fishing sequences mixed with the never-before-seen documentary footage of the area makes “New Beginnings” a truly riveting piece of fly fishing film history.
